Maison Verger
Self-initiated concept project — a brief we set ourselves, not a client engagement. The business named here is hypothetical.
Brief
Maison Verger is a hypothetical neighbourhood pâtisserie with no website at all — the brief we hear most often from real first-time clients. The constraint: five pages, a menu that changes seasonally, and a homepage that has to work for someone glancing at it on a phone outside the shop window.
Approach
We treated the homepage as a shop window, not a brochure cover — the day's specialities lead, opening hours are never more than one scroll away, and the ordering information sits above the fold on mobile. The rest of the site (About, Menu, Visit, Contact) follows the same ruled-grid language as this site, in a warmer, single-accent palette suited to a food business rather than a design studio.
Craft notes

The menu page uses a single reusable 'ruled row' component instead of a photo-heavy card grid, so updating a seasonal item is a one-line content change, not a redesign. Typography carries the warmth here — a serif for dish names, plain grotesque for prices and hours — since a bakery's site has no room for a decorative image budget.
Outcome (design intent)
Designed to answer "are you open, and what do you sell today" in under three seconds on a phone screen — the single job a five-page local-business site has to do first.
